Create your own well-being index

Well-being Bloom Index

Taiwan, Japan and Korea's well-being, drawn as each country's own national flower and benchmarked against the OECD average. Ten domains, one petal each — five in the inner ring, five in the outer. Each slider is how much you value that domain — the higher you set it, the more weight it carries in the score, and the more its petal grows. The OECD average is a fixed benchmark of 5 in every domain, so it never moves; Taiwan, Japan and Korea rise or fall around it.

Weight the domains

Each slider is how much you value that domain — the higher you set it, the more it counts toward the score relative to the others. 0 removes it from the score entirely (petal shrinks away); 10 gives it the maximum possible weight (petal grows largest). Every slider starts at 5, so all ten domains count equally until you change them.

Data: Taiwan (DGBAS & other national sources), Japan & Korea (OECD Data Explorer, WISE Current Well-being), OECD Average (OECD Well-being Data Monitor, 2026). For each indicator, the OECD average is pinned at a score of 5; Taiwan, Japan and Korea are placed above or below that based on how far their value deviates from it, scaled so whichever of the three deviates most lands at the 0 or 10 edge. Hover any petal for value details, or the ⓘ next to a slider for its sources. Taiwan's figures are independently reconstructed to match OECD indicator definitions as closely as possible — they are not official OECD publications.
